THE FOX AND THE CROW"

The hungriest crow
In the Kingdom of Not
Found a slice of old pizza
Somebody forgot -

And sat on a branch
That was just out of reach
Of a hungrier fox
Who would like such a piece.

"Oh, Crow," said the fox
To the fortunate bird:
"Let me tell you the tales

Of your voice I have heard:

That of God's many creatures,
I understand -
                                                             You sing the fairest
In all of the land."
The crow was impressed
But he just couldn't speak,
With a fat slice of pizza

Clenched tight in his beak -
   But the fox was persistent
                                                                And said the right thing:
"I'd be the happiest of fellows
                                                                To just hear you sing!"

But when he opened up wide
To sing his course, "Caw!"
Down dropped his pizza
Right into the jaw

Of the cleverest fox
                                                                That ever he'd met
                                                          And Crow learned a lesson
He would never forget:
To be wary of fine words,
The flatterer's ways,
To get what he wants -
With falsehood and praise!
